The Calgary PMA contributed $10,000 to support the National CPMA's Fruits & Veggies – Mix it Up! campaign launched in the summer of 2010. The campaign was designed to encourage Canadians to incorporate more fruits and vegetables into their meal plan through recipes and other health related tips.
The Freggie Friday program was also developed by the CPMA to educate elementary students (5 to 12 years of age) about the importance of eating fruits and vegetables. The program consists of the Freggie mascot as well as other material designed to help educators motivate their students to eat more fruits and vegetables.
The program has been very successful in Calgary, and the Calgary PMA hopes to continue in its efforts to bring this program to other schools.
